Safe Haven Maternity Home, a nonprofit organization under 501(c)(3), was established in 1992 with the simple vision of providing a safe home that inspires and provides resources to pregnant women and mothers with babies in crisis. These crisis situations include trafficking, drug and alcohol addiction, domestic violence, abuse, homelessness, and/or struggles with mental health. With these circumstances in mind, we strive to provide strength-based, client-focused services that meet their physical, spiritual, emotional, social, and educational needs. We prioritize hope, compassion, purpose, dignity, and relationships, and aim to emulate these values in each interaction.
Over the years, Safe Haven has evolved its services as the needs of the community have changed. Various programs have been developed to support these mothers and babies as they transition out of crisis and into healthy independent living.
- Residency Program - We provide a safe home environment for up to 8 women and 8 babies at a time. Immediate basic needs are met such as food, shelter, & safety. Trained staff provide supervision and support 24/7. Individualized care plans are created to help each mother succeed.
- Empowerment Program - Mothers attend weekly classes to strengthen their path to independence. Classes include job preparedness, economic stability, personal growth, parenting development, self care, and addiction recovery.
- Transportation Program - We provide our mothers and babies with access to reliable transportation to medical, pre/post natal, and legal appointments, as well as school, work, community agency resources, recovery meetings, and shopping.
- Healthy Lifestyle Program - Residents learn healthy meal planning and preparation, nutrition needs, and exercises. Residents can also learn to grow and harvest their own food in the home's garden.
- Aftercare Program - When a mother has successfully completed the Safe Haven Residency Program, support is provided for her to locate affordable housing, obtain employment, find safe childcare, and any other needed support into independent living. Personalized support is offered through counseling and on-going mentorship.
- Blessing Bag Closet - In-kind donations such as clothing (sized infant to adult), baby items, formula, hygiene kits, and household items are organized and redistributed to those in need. Items can be picked up at our office or at monthly local community events. This service is offered to the greater community, not just those within the Residency or Aftercare Programs.
It is generous donations like yours, given in hard times, that enable us to continue to be a valuable resource in our community.
THANK YOU!
